Last night at the Pops could just be the best show the Aussies have ever played, and without a doubt one of the best shows I have ever been to. The setlist:

Animals
Echoes

interval

Dark Side of the Moon
Wish You Were Here
Comfortably Numb
Run Like Hell

The band was magnificent from start to finish, they played their hearts out and the crowd went nuts. A bit too nuts at times, and security had plenty to do, but the atmosphere in the Echo Arena was amazing. The light show was, as always, spectacular, loads of new visuals and the sound was perfection. Animals and Echoes in the first half gave them a lot to live up to for the second set, but they gave us the best Dark Side I've ever heard them play, the loudest WYWH, courtesy of 5,000 scousers singing along, a Comfy that nailed you to your seat and finished off with a great Run Like Hell.

It amazes me when I talk to the band members that they don't know just how good they are (perhaps they're modest!), it still seems to be a bit of a surprise to them that they are playing shows like this. It shouldn't, this was a world class show by world class musicians who deserve every accolade they get.

The Echo Arena is a fantastic facility for Liverpool, in a beautiful setting around the dock. It is such a shame that there is a minority of idiots who are determined to tear it (and themselves) to pieces and ruin everyone elses enjoyment.
