I don't really know what to say other than awesome!! Just awesome!! And I totally feel like that word is a complete understatement.

Let me start off commenting on my seats in the venue. They were incredible. I don't think the seats could have been any better if the band themselves had come out and pointed to a pair of seats and suggested that I sit there. They were just perfect. They were about 11 rows back with a DEAD ON center view. Just perfect.

As for the show itself...words just can't describe. It was magical. I'd always wanted to see "The Wall" done live in it's entirety (other than on video) and this was more than I could have imagined it could be. I have to admit when the band let loose and cranked out the opening notes to "In the Flesh"...it was rather loud...and sadly I must admit that it was a bit comical to see my wife jump about thirty feet into the air. But much to her credit...she quickly recovered and we were both totally lost in the show from that point. At the conclusion of the first set...we both agreed that this was far and away one of the best performances we had ever seen out of the Aussie Floyd show. No joke...musically...it was almost spot on.

Then the second set started and let me tell you....it left the first set in the dust. I have not missed Aussie Floyd once since they started coming to the Dallas / Fort Worth area...and I've always wondered what the audience here's problem was. For the most part...everyone in DFW seems so content to sit in their seats and just mellow their way through the shows. But not this year. Once Damian started ripping through the end guitar solo in Comfortably Numb...it was off your butt and on your feet time. It was amazing. I'd always wanted to see Dallas come to life for the Aussie Floyd members...and that night...the band got the recognition they so deserved. It was pretty much that way again during Run Like Hell and the entire encore. If you sat down...you didn't see the show. And that...in my opinion...is the way it should be.

I need to comment on the role of Pink played by Ian Cattell. He SOLD IT!! It was fantastic. He totally immersed himself in the role and in my honest opinion...I thought he blew Roger off the charts. Way to go Ian...you deserve MASSIVE Kudos for that performance!!!

The encore was terrific....Shine On, Great Gig, Wish You Were Here, Learning to Fly, One of These Days, and Brain Damage / Eclipse. I couldn't have asked for a better conclusion.

As for inflatables....didn't see any...no worries...the new stage set design, the lights, and the lasers all made up for it in droves. And the lasers...wow!! I don't recall seeing any lasers during the first set...but during the second set...oh yeah....they were there....in massive quantity.

After the show when Jen and I were leaving...we headed up to the stage (I'm not really sure what possessed us to)...but we managed to spot Damian and he came down and chatted with us for a few. It was really great to talk to him again. He defnitely remembered us as he recalled the last time we met...my wife was quite pregnant. We ranted and raved about the show and thanked him for stopping to chat with us and then we made our way out. We bumped into Ian Cattell in the lobby and got to chat with him for a minute or two and say thanks.

Overall it was an incredible night. I can't even begin to tell all of you who are across the big pond how big of a treat is in store for you all with this show you'll be seeing next year. I am so hoping that they film this one...it is just magnificent. Thanks to all the band for their efforts and to all their crew for making it all happen!!!

I do have some video footage shot from Dallas that will be up on Youtube tonight. I will post the links in a new thread. I have three complete songs...Another Brick 2, Comfy Numb (complete with some crazy drunk woman in the lower right corner who is doing what she calls dancing...I personally thought she looked more like Forrest Gump in a Dress having a breakdown), and Run Like Hell. I also have some great footage of Ian playing the role of Pink in his leather trenchcoat during "Waiting for the Worms".

Like I said...I'll post the links up later tonight.

Thanks much and take care everyone!!!

John
